A sermon on John 12: 1-8
I thought about this passage where Mary of Bethany anoints Jesus’ feet while I was in Mexico on vacation. Why? Because I was having a pedicure. We do not very often let other people take care of our bodies in this way — washing, trimming, painting. And when we do, we can feel guilty — shouldn’t this money I’m spending go to the poor?
But I realized that part of living in community is allowing others to care for us, spending our money even to give others jobs and purpose. And community is world-wide, and as close as our own neighbor. Hear the full sermon here.
